Everything in life has its polar opposite. It is not possible to have a day without night. There is no right without wrong, no light without dark, no down without up and, no success without failure. The world seems incomplete without the opposites. All existence is about contrasts, is about duality.
Black and White
Sadness and happiness; both are part of life. Love, the strongest power in life also has its counterpart and both feelings have their unique meaning in our life. The colors black and white have their own value. What would a world without opposites look like? The concept of the opposites is pretty impressive, but it can be difficult sometimes to accept it. This thought inspired my painting „Opposites“. It reflects the meaning of why opposites are actually necessary for life. Probably, we cannot fully appreciate the whole beauty of life with all its shades and nuances without the opposites.
The Color beyond
Let’s talk about color theory very briefly. The concept of color harmony says that complementary colors are always essential to create impactful visuals in the art. The fact is, that opposite colors create maximum stability and contrast in a painting. In a similar manner as opposites create balance in life.
One cannot exist without the other
In order to create harmony in life, it is important to accept both: The good as well as the bumps in the road. As indeed, they attract at every sphere of life, and regardless of whether a present combination fits the formula, it always has some unique meaning and impact on our lives.
In order to create a balance, we need to value both parts equally.
My artwork “Opposites” reflects a balanced combination of the lighter and the darker side of life with always a ray of hope. Opposite colors form a deep connection with each other and exist harmoniously side by side. „Opposites“ is, like my other paintings, a square format and consists of various colorful, contrasting layers of acrylic paint, ink and charcoal.
On your wall, it reminds you that once you are able to understand the balance of opposites, it will help you create harmony in every area of your life.
