Traveling inspires
The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page. St. Augustinus
I fully agree, because traveling is one of the things that inspire me most. I always take my sketchbook with me when I travel and although my favorite format for painting is 100×100 cm, this is not comfortable to transport when I travel.
Recently I felt the need to start a new collection from these sketches that I do when I travel. In order to appreciate the small travel sketch size I made these in their original 15×15 cm format so that the feeling of travel is still there. The first motifs in my Travel Sketches Collection are places around me, places that I inspired me, buildings I loved looking at. And although I have a lot more sketches of places that inspired me near and far, they are still hidden in my sketchbooks. As I add to this collection these gems will emerge on watercolor- or stone paper.
Materials & Technique
My Travel Sketches are all original watercolor and Ink paintings on a 15×15 cm stone paper. All are framed with a white wooden frame.
In your home, the pieces remind you that „it is not the destination where you end up but the mishaps and memories you create along the way.” (Penelope Riley)
