As an art lover you, no doubt, want your home to reflect your love for art and creativity. Making sure that your home has an artistic touch is easy. There are some easy tips you can follow that will make your home more artistic and creative. The following are 5 tips that will help you give your home an artistic touch this year.
Tip 1: Display your collections in a creative way
If you have collections (such as a decorative plate collection, figurine collection, antique spoon collection, acrylic painting collection, etc.) then you probably display them in a rather ordinary way: on a shelf, on a table, on different walls, and so on. You can make your home look much more artistic by displaying your favorite collections in a more creative way.
For example, display your decorative plates with creative placement on a wall rather than in a line up on a bookshelf; or display your antique figurines in a vibrantly colored shadow box that will add some contrast to the collection. And arrange your acrylic painting collection on a wall combined with photographs and family snapshots.
Tip 2: Use pops of color to add vibrancy and style to any space
Color is one of the most useful ways to add artistic touches to your home. And one of the most versatile. There are many ways to add pops of color to any space, ranging from small decorative objects such as pillows and blankets or colorful paintings to more open-ended color such as a colored accent wall, large furniture such as chairs, and so on. Don’t be afraid to mix and match colors to achieve a truly artistic effect.
Tip 3: Decorate your home with different textures
An artistic touch involves more than just displaying flat prints or even canvas: it is about knowing how to mix and match different textures to create a wholly unique space. Make sure to decorate your walls and overall home space with different types of textures, such as smooth pillowcases, textured blankets, canvas art, and so on. The more textures, the more interesting your space will look.
Tip 4: Mix up furniture and décor for an eclectic style
Unless you’re going for a modern minimalistic look, one of the best ways to add an artistic touch to your home is to mix up the style of your furniture and décor. For instance, you might have a very simple, clean white dining room table, combined with textured knitted chair covers on the dining room chairs and colorful place mats for each setting.
Mixing and matching allows you to open up your mind to endless possibilities while making your home look much more artistic.
Tip 5: Don’t be afraid to take creative décor risks
Don’t be afraid to take some risks with your décor. Be bold, try something new. Part of embracing an artistic touch is knowing that sometimes a design choice may seem outlandish or unusual but it may pay off by creating a unique look, your own unique look, in the end.
Bonus Tip: Change things around every now and then
Finally, change things around every now and then and be surprised what effects changing the outside has on the inside. Yes, a decluttered studio helps me with a decluttered mind (no, unfortunately it does not stay decluttered – that is why this is a regular task for me 🙂 )
Small decor changes imply something new, something fresh and usually ignite my creativity. Change a picture on the wall every now and then and be surprised what it does to your room.
